PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering (BS IE) is a four-year undergraduate program that provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to design, improve, and manage systems that involve people, materials, information, equipment, and energy. The program covers a wide range of topics, including:
Operations research
Systems analysis and design
Manufacturing systems
Quality control
Ergonomics
Supply chain management
Human resources management
Project management
Students in the BS IE program learn to use mathematical and statistical tools to solve problems, to design and implement efficient processes, and to manage people and resources effectively. They also gain experience in working on real-world projects through internships and capstone courses.
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAM
The objectives of the BS IE program are to:
Provide students with a strong foundation in the principles of industrial engineering.
Develop students’ problem-solving and analytical skills.
Prepare students for careers in industrial engineering or for graduate study in industrial engineering.
Promote students’ understanding of the impact of industrial engineering on society.
Encourage students to become lifelong learners.
Graduates of the BS IE program will be able to:
Apply the principles of industrial engineering to solve problems in a variety of settings.
Design and implement efficient processes.
Manage people and resources effectively.
Communicate effectively about industrial engineering.
Work effectively in teams.
